As we were coming home last night from a dinner with Richard's co-workers birthday party, we were trying to figure out if Josh was awake or asleep in the back seat. I asked are you awake? no answer, so Richard put his hands on the GPS to cover it or take it down, when we heard "NO DADDY, Don't take the GPS down" he was awake.

Just recieved Josh's weighted blanket today. Put 6lbs in it. He layed under it twice. Ever since he has been quiet, maybe too quiet playing with his trains. Will try it at dinner tonight and hopefully tomorrow for Thanksgiving. Hopefully he will not get food on it.

Also, he is now drinking from a cup without a straw. I am so proud of him. I also think he is going through a growth spurt. He had an egg that I made plus, an egg that Richard brought home from WaWa, 2 cups of chocolate milk. Toulhis was all before 11am. To understand, Josh has just started eating eggs this week for breakfast. He never would eat anything at all for breakfast.

Different Daddy

Richard had shaved his head this morning and Josh did not see him before he left for work. After Richard came home from work today, Josh ran to him and then ran to an older picture of Richard with hair and said, "Different Daddy" and keeps saying "This Daddy" and poining to Richard.

Parent/Teacher Conference

I had Josh's conference with his teachers yesturday. They told me he scored 100% on all his tests. They include, Alphabet, Math and Reading. When asked questions on a story they read, he asked to "check the book." This is something that not a Kindergartner whould know to ask. His teachers think that he might have aspergers. This is somthing that I have thought of as well, but because he was a delayed speaker, I ruled that out. They said it does happen to delayed speaking children.

I am going to look into some weighted vests, blankets and underarmer clothing for him.

His OT at Sensational Kids also recomends theraputic listening.

Watching Movies

As I am trying to get Josh to be able to sit through a whole movie, I put in Sleeping Beauty. After all the credits rolled on the screen like it used to in the begining, the Disney Book was shown. Josh kept saying before the nararator started reading, Josh repeated "Once upon a time" expecting the story to start out that way. Once it started, he relized it did not start that way and he stopped.

As of right now he is watching it very intently. I see going to a movie theater in our future.

10/24/2010

As we were eating dinner, Richard & I were having a "big salad" and Josh was eating his chicken nuggets, he asked for more after eating 5. I said "what about some chicken, what about some salad, etc... he replied "what about some more nuggets mommy."

October 23rd 2010

As I was sitting here, I put on Mickey Mouse Club House that I had recorded for him the other day. He then asked to watch Handy Manny and ran up to get his tools and tool box, Manny, an ambulance and a big car. He put the tools in the tool box in the same order as the show was. Too cute. He then put Manny & the tools on top of an ambulance and drove it around. Just 2.6 miles to McDonalds on right. My little GPS.

Since I am tempererally im-mobile, you can check it out on my other blog.. Bladder Blog. bladderblog-karen.blogspot.com, we are home bound. I put on Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs and he started to watch it, very inently. until the love scene started. Boys!!!!

10/10/10

Saturday, October 9, 2010

I have been up since 4am this morning, not that unordinary, except for the fact that our carbon monoxide detecter decided to chirp at 4:15 this morning. Richard and I came down thinking it was the smoke alarm. I found batteries but it kept on chirping. Then we discovered the carbon monoxide detecter was the culprit. Richard kept trying to change the batteries, but it still keeps chirping. Can not wait to see how my day turns out. Had coffee for the first time in a long time. Shh, dont tell my Uro-oncologist, he would kill me if he knew I had coffee.

Pizza

Richard came home from school, he is in Paramedic school and Josh said "Daddy, bring in something. The first step is go to Cherry Hill to get the pizza." G-d only knows how he connects CH & Pizza

Josh loves playing with coins. He loves putting coins into our counting money jar. If he is in his room and I am doing laundry, and there is change left in the dryer, he comes running out, trying to collect.

The other day he said to my husband Richard when he came home from school, "what's skaking Daddy?" He was referring to the change in his pocket.

The things kids say.

Sept 7th 2010
First Day of Kindergarten.
@ 6:30 AM we tried to wake Josh up. Richard pulled his blanket off of him and left it at the foot of the bed. Josh tried to pull the covers back on himselft with his feet. Too cute.

Monday, September 6, 2010

Yesturday, Josh kept saying he wanted to get the Big Red Ball. I kept saying we have a big blue ball. Then he said he wanted to go to the big red ball and get Big Foot.
Target is now the big red ball and he wants the big, Big Foot that costs close to $100. NO WAY. I refuse to buy him something that expensive that he will only play with once for a few minutes.
Josh is a very sensory seeking happy boy. He only likes being smushed on the sofa or bed. But he does not stop. It does tiring.
Now, I have to sit on the sofa with a pillow behind me because I have a bad back. He tends to take my pillow away from me. When I just sat down and took my pillow back, he said and I quote, "Go in the kitchne mommy." I replied, "so you want me to be barefoot and in the kitchen?" He replies,"yes" just to take my pillow away.

Trying to get Josh adjusted to getting up early is starting to backfire. He went to bed at 8:30 last night, but had to wake up at 5:30 this morning. We have to get him to be able to sleep in on the weekends. I just do not think it will work.

Get up mommy, Get up.

Monday, August 30, 2010

Yesturday Josh woke up at 5am full of energy. He has never woken up that early even as a baby. At 5PM last night he crashed. Richard came home and normally he runs down the steps to see DADDY, but no sign of him. He woke up at 8PM. ate 2 hotdogs and blueberries. I finally got him to sleep again at 10-10:30. Wich, btw, is my bedtime. Mommy can not go to sleep until Joshie is asleep.

Can not wait until next week. School School School

The past couple of days Josh has been talking about a friend Kelly. I thought at first he was tryng to say my name. This morning he said that Kelly was going to work with Daddy.

As Josh was eating his bacon and OJ, I found out that Kelly has red hair, blue eyes and is 4 years old. She likes bacon and her blue truck. This is a first for Josh. He has been playing more pretend play and now seems to be making up people. An imaginary friend. Mixed feelings about it.

Joshism - The Poohacide....suddenly the Pooh Bear falls down the stairs followed by a familiar giggle from one little boy who should be asleep

August 21st 2010

After going to the grocery store with Josh, who btw, almost had a tantrum when we pulled up becuase he wanted to go to Walmart, not Acme, we came home and had lunch. After eating his nuggets, Josh found his old Handy Manny Radio that tells him to fix it with a screw driver and hammer that are both missing. He then pretended to call someone, I do not know who and tell them we were at Walmart getting his tools.

I came into the room and he was sittng on the sofa and told me we needed to go to Walmart to get his tools. Now, Josh never asks for a specific toy, so I jumped and said if you put your shoes on all by yourself, we can go. Of course he did and waited for me to leave.

Of course Walmart had nothing, So off to Target we went. Luckally they had just what I looked up online.

Josh had a great session at OT yesturday. His therapist had him swinging on three separate items. This really helped him with his sensory perception. Normally when Richard is home, Josh runs to him and crawls behind him, but yesturday, he did not even come onto the couch.
Josh had OT yesturday. His session was great. He loves the swing. It really helped with his sensory depth perception. Normally when we come home and Richard is home, he runs right to him and crawls behind him.

Back to School

Just recieved Josh's bus pass for Kindergarten. His bus will be picking him up at 7:35AM. I see a water gun being used now, not just when he is a teenager. Josh is very hard to wake in the morning. Can not wait.

Saturday, August 14, 2010

So yesturday, we took Josh to get a hair cut before we took him swimming. He was being held by his father and behaving ok while the hair cutter was doing her job. Then, out of the blue, the blade fell right off the razor. Mind you he was getting a #2 buzz. All of a sudden there was a big square of a #1 on the back of his head. Luckally they did not charge us for the cut. His hair is now extremely short. Luckally he is cute no matter how you cut it.
Pictures to follow.

While shopping at Acme for my weekly trip, my 5 1/2 year old son who loves the GPS in our car and follows where it goes, said as I skipped isle 19 "recalculating" For those of you who do not know, when you go the wrong way or "another way" that the GPS is telling you to go, it says "recalculating" meaning it has to either add or subtract your time and miles. He is just too cute.

As of Weds July 28th
To understand our situation, we live in a 3 bedroom townhouse with not a lot of playspace. Most of Josh's favorite toys are in his room, so we set up a TV with only DVDs. He for some reason has been hooked on Micky Mouse Club House for a while.
So... Josh is in his room watching his DVD that he has watched at least 50 times. He comes running down grabs an ambulance and runs back upstair with it. If you blinked you would not have seen him. He was way too fast. He then calls me to PAUSE his DVD just so he can get 2 little army men he had downstairs. I of course had to wait in his room for him to return. Too funny.

July 27th 2010
OT

Met with Colleen today, a behaviorologist. Luck ally, Josh had a major tantrum/meltdown in her presence. She tried to get him to color a ten. She drew it with a green marker. She helped him color in the 1 in a green crayon. He wanted to color it with the green marker. He was having a fit and wanted to erase what he had done. When he found out that he could not, he went into a fit. He started to hit Colleen, but she turned him around and he went after me. He kicked at me and was violently hitting me. Josh did this to me the other day and this morning. His tantrums are getting worse and way out of hand.
Richard took him for a little walk outside to calm him down. When he came back in it was time for OT. Josh was still a little upset and still crying. He finally calmed down and had a good OT session.
